The original 49'ers were recovering placer gold. Not mining from hard rock veins.

And when they did move to the hard rock, they didn't chip off high grade and sluice it with just water and gravity to recover metals. They were a lot more experienced and smarter than that.

I suggest this other board is the place for this conversation, as it no longer has any significant relevance to EXLA.
