Degree or not, Scott Walker crashed his college reunion
Scott Walker crashed his college reunion — never mind that he didn’t graduate.
A profile in The Boston Globe on Wednesday reveals that the Wisconsin governor, who never completed his degree at Marquette University, went to his 20-year college reunion at a hotel ballroom in 2010.
Walker attended Marquette for four years but was 34 credits short of earning an undergraduate degree, which would have taken another year to finish. During his college years, Walker held a 2.59 grade point average.
The profile describes the early political life of a suit-clad, teenage Walker as he navigated the world of student government. His college career included a run for student body president (he lost by 15 percentage points) and an investigation into a homecoming weekend scandal in which a dozen students charged nearly $1,000 to the student government’s account for flowers and champagne.
Walker ultimately left the Milwaukee university to run for the Wisconsin State Assembly, but lost to Democratic incumbent Gwen Moore.
Although he left Marquette early, Walker still holds strong ties to the university. He and his wife, Tonette, were married on Marquette’s campus. Walker has a son who is a junior at Marquette and who attended his father’s would-be 20-year reunion.
