Another case of natural selection.
Long live the jersey bear hunt.

Chilly here. More snow presumably on the way for Sunday into Monday.
Stay warm.

I've only come in near contact with a bear in the open once...I had been running and while I was walking to do my slow down on a road near a small lake or large pond...heavy brush lined the side of the road toward the lake...I heard something walking through it...knew it was bigger than a deer...so I stopped...I had already been warned by an elderly lady to watch out for the bear...when I asked her if one had been sighted...she just rolled her eyes...brilliant person that I am...figured that meant yes...**Grins**...about 10 feet in front of me....A huge Black Bear popped its head out of the brush...Must have been 10 feet tall...yes a man measurement...;-)...looked right at me...I froze and then slowly started to back away while facing it...picked up a stick about 2" in diameter and 2' long...knew it wouldn't change anything except piss it off...but I wanted at least to go down swinging...LOL

After I slowly backed away about 5 feet...it snorted and headed back to the brush...I wasn't going to let it change its mind...about face and moving rather quickly got the flock out of there....ince is enough for me.

That lady was a fool....just like the guy in Alaska doing research on Grizzlies that decided to stay during the time Grizzlies fatten up...not a pleasant ending...except for the fatter Grizzly...;-)
