since this stock events are 6 hours in advance, in the UK a stop loss could be brutal on an open. I would only use it intra day US just for a given day

I would be far the richer if I'd have taken my own advice many years ago. It can be the biggest factor in investment protection IMO. I would try to learn about Support Levels, Resistance Levels and Moving Averages in Basic Technical Analysis to assist you with learning about targets to watch for. JMO
