Here is a partial list of Pinetree's holdings from the 3rd quarter of 2014 which confirms your assessment of their financial holdings. Almost all of the commodity holdings, which accounts for most of its holdings, are under water.
If I was managing Pinetree's affairs, ANY, one of the Pinetree's few winners,would be one of the last stocks I would sell from this portfolio. I would unload the losers first.
Blue...I agree garbage was too hostile of a description. I should have used the term liquid. Your definition of the asset classes were spot on but they had to raise $20 Million and you have to sell stuff you can get bids on. They may not have sold it all but I tend to think they were the supplier of shares. Also, and things we cannot see are their contractual commitments to some of their other investments.
