Or maybe when you use the proper scale on the y-axis, it may be something more unique to Ariad than just "shorting" thesis. Remember, this came back from 5s in this short period. We would have seen this same behavior every time the market had a bad day since we've always been one of the most shorted stock. So, I don't think I will buy your argument.

I don't know if that is the reason but it seems plausible. However, why doesn't Ariad go up on every bad market day? I remember two other bad market days this month. One where Ariad went up against the market on no news like today. The other where Ariad went down with the overall market on no news. So, I haven't quite figured this out but your suggestion might be part of the equation.
