I like to think that I give good advice to prospective PC buyers. I told her what the options were and made the suggestion that there were several new and very inexpensive PC options with Windows where Microsoft didn't charge for the license but made it up on Bing, Cloud and Office 365. She wasn't interested in dealing with it.

I try to figure out what would best fit the person and, if they have a strong aversion to Windows 8/8.1, then I suggest something else. Fortunately Dell and HP still offer Windows 7 on a number of their systems.
