#38962 RE: SFSecurity #38956

Note that my formula is for calculating the price for the minimum Shares to be traded and not the minimum Dollars to be traded.

Newport will select for minimum Shares traded if it is a larger value (shares times price) than the minimum Dollar value.

Newport will select for minimum Dollar value traded if it is larger than the min shares value (shares times price).

So, in Newport, if you put in 1 share as minimum and $1000 it will calculate the next Buy and Sell prices based upon the $1000 assuming the share price is less than $1000/share.

In Newport if you put in 100 shares and $250 as your minimums, it will calculate the next buy and sell prices based upon the share minimum as long as the price/share is above $2.50/share.

Newport is BTB in its calculating engine. It's only the Minimums and the SAFE that can vary from BTB. (in Newport SAFE is called Resistance)

Since for years I kept both paper and Newport records, I know this to be fact. Since I was involved in the design of Newport from the beginning, I know this for fact.

What you are discussing is the instance where one uses a 1.33 multiplier vs a 0.75 divisor. This is the same discussion of how much you must gain to off set a loss on a percentage basis. This example would show that a 25% loss needs a 33% gain to offset the loss. Math is math. Formulae are formulae.
