Having a great fund is not always the best. On ITB over a few years I have only had sales so account was not able to grow. Has thrown off lots of cash though.

GAB and RMT, both closed end funds, have done well with both buying and selling. IVV and IWM would have done well also. 2000, 2003, 2007. 2009 have been the big turning points.
