I have been preparing for this way of life by getting rid of most of my "modern conveniences"

I don't want to get rid of anything. Just have the most efficient out there. Once you start from the beginning you can set up for a full but efficient lifestyle. Even if I have to spend $25K for batteries. Do most of the heavy work during the day, saving the batteries.
I always like this video.

New TVs are quite efficient.
Hardest part of it would be creating a system that I can charge a Tesla!
I agree with HUP Solar.
Houses like this one a designed to have Extra Power at the end of the day. And with SLTD panels you would need many less.

Good luck to all who are dreaming of living off the grid, its a tougher life, but worth the independence!

Imo it doesn't have to be that tough. It's just those few days in Wisconsin without sun.!

I grew up until I was 12 years old pretty much living off the grid! No tv, no indoor plumbing, and one small oil heater in the living room for the whole house. I like the grid, and appreciate all the modern comforts! JMO but good luck to you. You may actually love it!!
