Why would the lakeshore police department care if the vault had steel mesh or if they wanted to open a call center? Or if the cameras were up to speed.

None of that is their responsibility.

I don't know if Lakeshore has a police department. Good point. The OPP is there. Many small towns in Ontario use the OPP in place of their own police force.
