Yes that part is confusing - shares sold short that don't really exist - how are they covered? My info is that if you bought them, you own real shares. However, when the naked short has to cover, he has to get them from the outstanding share pool. IF (and that's a big if) there is a substantial naked short position, it will only serve to add big fuel to an already massive potential squeeze. We'll soon see how big that naked position is.
