I am thinking January 2, when no one is selling to cut their tax obligations.
AMD is probably getting hit with traders that had a good year and have big capital gains. I know a few colleagues that trade that are selling AMD to do just that.
The problem and the risk is that AMD comes out with some big announcement that drives the stock higher in the short term (30 days to capture the loss before rebuying).
The short sellers are feeling pretty flush right now too. (Which, if something big changed AMD's future, the squeeze on the short sellers could make the longs smile.
