Not speaking for him, but it sounds like his son is personally invested with real money; and the StockMarketGame is with an imaginary portfolio, and its performance measured over some specific period of time.

easy to explain:

My son's TDWaterhouse portfilio,(real$$$) is all in NEOM, and has een for a while, after being in TSO and some other shares mid last year.

The StockMarketGame (smgww.org) is over for now, restricts shares held to stocks over $5.00 in valus, so I advsed him to go into metals. Had a few non performers in spec oil, but in the last 4 weeks was into gold/silver with big gains in AUY, SIL, HL, and GG. You couldn't hold more than 30% (?) in any one company, if your share in that company was purchased and grew to over 30% that was OK. Therefore, NEOM was never an option to but in the game, but he owns $15,000 of NEOM for real. By the way, he got the $$ for this by losing 85 pounds weight after my dad kept getting on me to get him to lose weight. He was 208 pounds end of 6th grade, dropped 85 pounds by knocking out carbs, with the incentive of $100/lb. Grandpa never thought he'd do anything like that, wrote the check, and promptly started bugging ne to get him to put on some weight! He did it himself w/o any problems, has since then grown taller than me (I'm only 5'7 1/2 at best)and proceeded to do a lot of bike rides, musceled up, and is still is the "happy camper" he's always been! Though nw he looks hike a really cool "California Surfer" in MN!
