Ah, "civil trials" - you didn't mention that initially...in that case, I would agree. Criminal trials are a different story, which I am sure you agree.

how do they select grand juries where you live? in my county, one applies to get on the grand jury. for a regular jury, they select from DMV lists and are pretty adamant about showing up. i get selected a lot for criminal and civil juries, a couple times per year. makes me wonder what the process is in st. louis for the grand jury. Would only take 9 bigots to result in jury nullification for a murderer such as a bad cop, and the judge who appoints grand juries could hold major sway, as they are not open to pre-emptory challenges, etc... here, they apply and are a standing group that is compensated well for the amount of time they spend on it, and are selected for one or two-years at a time.

i am just wondering if you saw anything about their selection process, a bigoted white judge could be a factor in the make up of the grand jury and would be independent of selection of a regular trial jury which both attorneys get a whack at. And most certainly independent of the communities make-up... like i said, here a judge decides the make-up of the grand jury which is outside the ability of the attorneys to challenge.
