#230229 RE: SilverSurfer #230099

SilverSurfer -- the Republicans and the Democrats are not the same on those levels and have not been since (the at least arguably only partial case of) LBJ/Vietnam -- only from a vantage point distant from/dismissive of reality, locked in some fairly extreme mythical/reductionist frame

such as the "'big' government evil, (imagined and imaginary) free market sacred" one you so enjoy pulling out and waving around, can the (consistent nature and pattern of) differences between them be seen as/asserted to be trivial or not significant -- the Dems aren't/haven't been perfect, but they have been and continue to be a damned sight better than the GOPers -- whose long-standing unabashedly fervent embrace of the wealthy and big business has, I note, not been relaxed at all by virtue of the recent Tea Party Koch-sucker arrivals

and of course -- imprisonment and all other criminal penalties (as well as police abuses) are overwhelmingly a fact and function of state and local laws and government(-funded) institutions -- and any real solution to really change that whole situation (at least any which will actually work/take effect widely/generally in less than 100 years) will have to and can only come from, including being enforced by, our 'big', i.e. federal, laws and government
