It seems to me quite certain that GOP, at least mainstream, would very much wanted to pass their version of an immigration bill in the next Congress. Now, that has been poisoned.

If you think about it, Obama's timing is such that it takes away the possibility of the GOP passing an immigration bill.

Obama had control of both houses early on, and he could have used that opportunity to go after an immigration bill as well as Obamacare, but he didn't. And that tells a lot.

GOP will now not pass immigration bill.

However, if S. Court rules executive order unconstitutional, then that could pave the way for GOP to act.

Immigration bill might include some kind of mandatory military/community service (not including community organizer), could involve $$$, might be limited in number/year, might be limited to those with $$$ and/or needed skill that is in short supply.

Plenty of ways to pass an immigration bill that doesn't do much.

But, I do think that GOP would have passed an immigration bill that first secures the border, and then at least begins to tackle some of the problems of breaking up families. GOP big on family values.

If I were Hispanic, I would be pissed with the executive order because it does not provide a path to citizenship and could be overturned by court.

If I were blue collar, I would be pissed because you have just either taken my job or forced me to take lower wage.

If I were black man, I would be pissed, because Obama seems to take care of everyone else other than his own people. And that is shameful.
