I haven't bothered to look at the specifics here, but if they just copied the numbers in the proxy, you should be aware that those numbers for equity awards are (except for rare liability and performance awards) grant date valuations.

So what an executive actually collects is generally wildly different from this number. In Ariad's case, the equity portion would be much lower - for any options it could well be zero. If a company stock surges, the realized numbers can be much higher.
