Who benefits from soliciting and presenting this testimonial that ARM servers aren't (yet) superior to Intel servers?

Amazon? It can't harm their negotiation with Intel for customization to say ARM servers aren't yet superior. 'ARM' and 'yet' are worrying words.

Funny, the undercurrent I got from that article is that AWS is ready to switch to ARM as soon as they feel it's worth it.

Never mind they are not there after hyping it for the last 3 years or so. You keep-a-waiting, fpg...eventually ARM will get there. NOT! This is not a market Intel will cede ever...it will be ready to sell at cost to keep ARM out...it is that important! Let's see if the ARM server companies and their investors have the stomach to throw money at this for much longer...

The real question is, why is it news that AWS isn't doing so yet?

Because after years of hype, the ARM bandwagon isn't living up to the wild expectations.

Seems like the barriers to entry work in both directions. ARM moving into servers, x86 moving into mobile.

Sorry fpg, I was just applying the familiar snarky, condescending ridicule to ARM's efforts to penetrate the server market that you so gleefully apply to Intel's efforts in ultra-mobile as a point of contrast.

PS - before you bring up contra-revenue again, please note that all the very expensive ARM server R&D is being funded by someone, and thus far is yielding profits for exactly zero vendors.
