I did not write it pro_se, but that same darn statistic is referred to often,,,, here in an NPR opine... do you trust them?

At the same time, there are millions of Americans you can't find in monthly job reports. They've been unemployed so long they're no longer counted, or they're working just a few hours a week in jobs that can't support them. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also said yesterday that what they call the labor force participation rate fell again to 63.5 percent, the lowest number since 1981.

In those numbers are people who have lost not only jobs, but homes, security, faith in themselves, and hope for their future.

Fact is: The Gov has tax/reg discouraged work, especially the opportunity to start or work for a very small business... and is subsidising grift... so you get a lot less of the former and a lot more of the latter.... SEE?

How government is killing American entrepreneurship -
It's time to embrace startup capitalism and abandon crony capitalism

Granted some people are FUNemployed in early retirement but work downturn also hurts the economy. pro_se, heard about the youth unemployment? Worst in minorities but even college grads come out with lousy debt and no good job.

Work's for Squares
The share of the adult population, 16 and over, participating in the labor force is at its lowest level since 1978, at 62.8% and 62.9% in June and July, respectively. In a comprehensive study of trends in the workforce released in December, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said it expects a further decline in labor-force participation, to 61.6%, by 2022.. http://online.barrons.com/articles/SB50001424127887323949604580113811574041250

it's a long term trend with plenty of blame... now about your kinship with reality....

more from PBS

It’s astounding. That’s nearly 40 percent for young black teenagers. Look, one in every four black youth ages 16 to 25 is unemployed right now. So it’s a huge problem

Could explain the low vote turn out for Dems,,, ya think?
