Yes. If you have read about both and you obviously have, you know that SSI's technology and research is light years ahead of Google's and the goals of the Google investigation may have already been visited, surpassed and dismissed as unachievable by the SSI research. On the other hand they (Google X) may be looking at and seeing something that SSI has not considered.
In Sum; SSI has the tech and is way down the research road and Google has curiosity, ideas and money....
