Wisconsin has given out over 300,000 free ID cards so voters can prove they are a resident. Voter ID has worked well so far, being attached to Illinois at the south, Wisconsin needs to be vigilant of corruption, it does and will go over state lines.
Because of the various legal challenges voter ID has faces, it is not being enforced in today's election.
I live in Oregon now for a stint, no polling booths only mail in or drop off ballots. Talk about simple and efficient, but I am sure there is room for some games to be played either way.
