I actually see lots of Turions in retail they don't seem to be selling very well, core duo's seem to be sold out very rapidly obviously not a scientific poll.
That's odd, considering the news & rumors have been the opposite: core duo not selling well, turion gaining mobile marketshare for AMD.
drjohn - Different viewpoint there. Turions are now massively available, and are selling fabulously; not only were sales up, but ASP's as well. Core Duos may be scarce, but it ain't because they're selling so well.
And are they going to cost a small fortune (the pricing has been released but will there be enough to go around?)
I was over at Monarch's site and noticed that they had low-power Opterons but you pay through the nose for them. Might be an uplift at Monarch but processors are pretty competitive these days.
I'm looking harder at an X2 or Opteron DC desktop these days. But the pickings are slim looking for a discount.
