HTC One is a nice phone, but it is a year and a half old, and uses Snapdragon 600. Certainly, from a performance and battery life perspective, there are much better designs today. If I were to upgrade today, I'd consider iPhone6 - but that said, I'm more likely to wait another year before upgrading.

Consider rooting/installing a 3rd party ROM in that thing... Getting rid of the carrier bloatware can make it twice as snappy and literally double your battery life.

SlimRom is pretty slick.
