LODE, don't know if this might be a helpful and/or necessary lead to explore, but I recall reading back in the 80's that AIDS patients would get eye injections. Perhaps the knowledge and expertise learned/employed by those type of physicians might be worth exploring and possibly of some help?
As much as I marvel at medicine, I am very cynical in recognizing that options that other facilities/physicians/technique offer, are often unknown and/or not shared with a locally treated patient?
e.g., in my accident breaking my neck, my traechea was destroyed, but somehow I managed to survive the accident. What i had to find out for myself, was that in fact successful tracheal transplants could be performed and the only one's that I could find doing it was a doctor at the University of Barcelona.
Bottom line, the web is an incredible source of information if necessary and if one expends the effort. Hope all goes well.
