The forecasts have turned colder for next weekend and into early next week for the eastern U.S. Looking further out, Accuweather is showing the Northeast going to below normal temps the last week of November into the first week of December. That sort of cold, if it materializes, should get nat gas rallying.
Joe Bastardi of Weatherbell.com updated his Winter Outlook in his Saturday Update, Oct 27th. He expanded the area he is predicted 4 F below average temperatures in the U.S. for the winter of 2014/2015. He expects it to be a cold winter for much of the eastern 2/3rds of the U.S., much like last year. Not record cold, but a colder than usual winter. He pointed out the higher than normal amount of snow across the far north, and especially Russia for this time of the year as a precursor of cold weather to come to the U.S. in a few months. Also, the upper level wind patterns are likely to set up in a way to let arctic air flow south again this winter.
