At 20/25 you are at line 7, which has 7 letters. See all 7 letters and you will start the 20/20 ie line 8 and 8 letters. Your ophthalmologist will tell you which line you are at for each eye and how many letters you read correctly at that line.

IMO Dr. Rose of the FFB would likely be referring to the top 3 lines for the legally blind persons in the $ACTC Clinical trials and their combined total of 6 letters.

At least all of this is my understanding based on $ACTC referring to "letters" and not "lines". If there were another explanation, it would be good to know. In that event whoever has another explanation should post their findings as it would be much appreciated.
