Houston mayor withdraws subpoenas against pastors
American Family Association

Thursday, October 30, 2014
Dear Rick,
Houston Mayor Annise Parker has announced that the city has withdrawn subpoenas issued to five pastors for their sermons and private communications regarding homosexuality and transgenderism.
AFA sent out an Action Alert soon after the subpoenas were issued, encouraging you to let Mayor Parker know that her anti-Christian bully tactics and political activism based on her personal agenda crossed the line.
Because of your efforts, Parker was under immense pressure to do the right thing.
Unfortunately, this matter is far from over. Mayor Parker claims she withdrew the subpoenas not because she was wrong to issue them in the first place, but because they were not "serving Houston." In reality, what they were not serving is the foundation of our nation: religious liberty and the right of conscience.
Beyond withdrawing the subpoenas, Mayor Parker owes an apology to her city's pastors and to all those in the city who were sent the message by Parker that religious liberty is up for debate in Houston.
This was the most extreme case of homosexual activism we have ever seen and it showed what we've been saying for years…elections have consequences. The bottom line is, Annise Parker became mayor of Houston because Christians didn't vote, while homosexual supporters came out in droves.

We can no longer be complacent and take America's Christian heritage for granted. If you and I don't take our citizenship responsibilities seriously, our religious liberties will be taken away city by city.
