Depending how cost efficient and scalable Lockheed Martin can make their fusion reactors, they would likely be very competitive with all fossil fuel and renewable energy sources. It could completely upend the geopolitical energy map. Picture a world where fossil fuel demand declines every year while energy prices declines as well. Half of Russia's budget comes from energy. Countries like Venezuela completely depend on oil income for stability. Energy is a cost component of everything that is manufactured. As I said, practical fusion power would be a game changer.
