If I am reading this correctly, I quote from the article:

The leaders of the bailout, Henry Paulson, Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernanke, all told the court last week that the rescue was needed because AIG’s failure would have been catastrophic to the financial system.

If AIG's failure would have been so catastrophic to the financial system why would they have imposed such harsh bailout conditions on them, harsher than the ones imposed on the banks. It's like they speak from both sides of their mouth. They have no credibility in my books. It makes you truly wonder what was their true motivation behind all of this.
