So if 1700 engines need to be built by 2018 (4 years) using TiAl and use both Cast and EBM processes, the numbers could look like this.

If EBM is used for 2 stages and Cast for 5 stages then;

5 stages = approx 850,000 blades

2 stages = approx 340,000 blades

about 87-88 machines would be needed to produce the LPT Blades for 2 stages using EBM.


The casting side looks like they may be a little short in meeting the numbers based on the capability of producing 700,000
blades in 4 years.
