My wife is in California right now visiting family in Riverside.. I was out there last in 2011. My first visit California 1966, join the USMC San Diego. Spent a year traveling the coast to LA. Had friends in Huntington Park. The trip to Pendleton from LA visa versa on highway 1 at night was dark and quiet.

1980, that traffic and smog was heavy 24/7.

Last trip it was like going into a foreign country. Looks 90 percent hispanic.

Now there are several highways running north and south with autos bumper to bumper in 4 or 5 lanes going 90 miles an hour. And, texting and talking on cell phone. Insane! Can humans be that stupid?

Drug business appears to be the major economic product.

I couldn't believe how stressed Newport has become. They lost a lot big tech business. Almost like a ghost town from a business stand point.

My wife's 6 cousins lost good paying jobs and none are prepared for retirement. Lost homes and some have developed major drug problem.

I loved San Diego in 1966 but I wouldn't live there today.
