I was just reading about this & have been awaiting news of this sort, ever since reading this: http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/25/quantum-dots-could-increase-fiber-optic-bandwidth-up-to-10-times/ Personally, I see this TB/s fiberoptic communications tech as one of the more significant/lucrative opportunities in QD commercialization. This: "Quantum Dot Multi-Wavelength Laser combined with advanced silicon photonics integrated circuit technologies that enable multi Tb/s connectivity over a single mode fiber pair" concept would seem to have a tremendous amount of upside potential, conceivably involving entire fiberoptic data transmission infrastructures.
