Sorry I don't have much time today to consult on this problem, and they have not provided enough information on the "foaming". If they were able to get access to thoroughly foam the top of the raise, It would have taken an incredible amount of foam to rectify a caving raise/channel contact situation. It might be best if they bulkhead off the bottom of the foam with solid timber, then drive a bypass lateral tunnel and attempt to enter the channel in a more competent location. I have seen raises and drifts lost many times (not mine,btw). Sometimes it is unavoidable, but usually can be overcome by employing the highest skilled and experienced specialist raise miners, that have tricks and timbering abilities that minimize this scenario.
