LOL. On your second point we agree completely: both fundamentally and technically it's a fait accompli.

On your first point, it's not everyone. They have some knowledgeable and rational folks there. It's the illogical, angry, True Believer-type who starts to overly-identify with a stock and comes to dominate a board culture.

They start to regard the stock as their family, friend, school, team, community, nation, religion, etc., on and on. It's none of these things of course: it's an abstract financial instrument that signifies ownership in a corporation. Discussing it or criticizing it or trading it long or short is not a personal insult like saying their daughter is ugly! :-)

Very unfortunately, instead of logical and unemotional sharing of information and insights, we see this type of useless nonsense all over iHub.
