Ummm, it looks like the other way around. You seem pretty darned defensive for someone with a supposedly clear conscience.
In fact, if what you were doing was perfectly acceptable, legal, and well known to your boss(es), and they would have no problem with it, then you'd have come right out and mentioned the branch of government, the job title, and described how it is you're so gifted as to be able to accomplish in 1/5 the time, what a standard hiree in your position accomplishes.
In my experience, that indicates either a very poorly written job description, or an employee who is such a staggeringly monumental superstar that s/he would have been promoted out of the job in extremely short order.
BTW, I happen to know at least one CO in the Marines who would have fired your ass on the spot if he was aware of a guy daytrading 80% of company time. But then, he was only Commander of the largest field command in the Marine Corps. What would he know.
