The more I think about it, the more I believe there was some type of power struggle back around 2005. Prior to that it was Epstein's science with TNT and Cotara. PHM had had a slew of CEOs.

Then all of a sudden it was Thorpe's science with Steve King taken out of the lab and into the CEO chair. If I was a betting man which obviously I am to a fault, I would say the power play was some sort of UTSW coup saying it is Epstein or Thorpe and we want our guy in the CEO chair. They looked at the opportunity and potential size of the IP and made the right choice.

From that point forward it was all resources on Bavi except for what little was needed to complete the Cotara phII with no broadening of that science.
