So are the Sunni Saudi Arabians going to be for or against us bombing the Sunni ISIL while we basically support the Assad government against the rebels that Assad is murdering with poison gas? And we don't want the Shiite Iraqi's to help us because that would piss off the Sunnis. Am I sort of correct here? Because I am getting confused not even counting Russia's and Iran's involvement.

This sounds like a something is going to get really screwed up quickly.

p.s. I think Scotland will win either way.

At today's Senate Armed Services Comm hearing both Sec'ty of Defense Hagel's "war" comment and Chair of Joint Chiefs of Staff Dempsey's comment raising the possibility that U.S. troops could become involved in combat missions in the ME surprised me. Both men typically measure their words carefully and it's beginning to sound like they may not be on the same page as Pres Obama, who desperately does not want to drag this nation into another GWB-like protracted ME war.
Regarding the U.S. military vetting foreign fighters who are either with us or against us, good luck!
