Brian Krzanich didn't mention Broxton lately and that's why Intel seems to be cancelling its whole mobile strategy? Am, yeah, that's what is called journalism these days I guess.

Perhaps Core M and Cherry Trail characteristics are to close to each other.

So making one core really good is more rewarding than making two different cores.

Handwiring is very important and handwiring in two totally different cores makes not that much sense.

I think they can differentiate with Cache-design, number of cores, with or without hyperthreading and size of the ondie GPU.

Yep. That would basically be the first process generation that has been announced to be delayed and then successfully brought out earlier than predicted.

He wasn't talking about delaying 16FF+ but about not bothering with 16FF as far as I can see, so people would get access to a 16nm process delayed. There definitely do now seem to be plans to produce something in 1H but whether that is 16FF or 16FF+ is anyones' guess, my guess is they are actually trying to bring 16FF+ forward which would be quite ambitious. I guess Apple and perhaps Qualcomm must have ponied up some money or said they'd pay extra for early chips.
