They received Grants and these trucks are tested in Los Angeles Port and the Board of Harbor Commissioners on 4/11/2011 Approved

I have this video on proof of THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES the grant received BY Grant on retrofitting up to 15 Balqon Electric trucks and asking additional grant funding to offset cost...

John M. Holmes Deputy Executive director of operations states:
Proposal for Vision Motor Corporation to Retrofit Harbor Department owned Balqon Electric Yard Trucks

Initial order of 6 retrofits @ $658,500
$622,000 is reimbursable through the DOE EECGB GRANT.

Then subsequent order of 9 retrofits subject to successful testing and securing additional grant funding to offset cost

They're retrofit the balqon to decrease time in charge from 4 hours to minutes.

Increase battery life up to 8 hours.

Using hydrogen fuel cells.

Electric trucks save 68,000 gallon of diesel/yr (vs 16,000 kilograms of Hydrogen)

Annual emission reduction for electric trucks:*
-210 lbs of diesel particulate matter;
-3,936 lbs of oxides of nitrogen;
-78 lbs of hydrocarbons; and
-832 tons of carbon dioxide.
*Based on average yard tractor at 1,882 hours per year.

Harbor Department awarded $1.4 Million from the EECGB to fund 3 projects:
-project 1: Angelina II Hybrid Propulsion System @ $580k
-project 2: Vision Zero-Emission Electric Truck @ $280k
-project 3: Proposed Balqon Truck Upgrades @ $622k
