Many brokers won't allow shorts under a certain pps. (I believe mine is $2.00 so if you're with one of those brokers you needn't sweat it.) Check your broker for details on your account.
Also, if you place your ask too high a broker can loan out your shares anyway because in order to hit that pps it will blow through the price at which the short has to cover and you'll have your shares back anyway. If you want to apply this strategy you need to gamble with an ask that might actually get hit.
