I also like Krugman. But every country that has ever separated itself from England has overcome the same problems, i.e., The United States, India, Canada etc. So I think financial matters will be resolved eventually. It's likely the YES vote will fail anyway. Scotland is pretty much undeveloped with most of the North Sea oil going to England and bypassing Scotland for the last 40 years. The Saudi Arabian Riyal is their own currency but it has been a percentage of the US dollar about 3:1 for a long time. That probably won't last either

Also my Scottish ancestry might have been a little irked at his remarks. :-)
