If that account was fake, it was likely someone not affiliated to myEcheck or Sionic Mobile.
I wouldn't consider it a red flag if some kid is ready to go to great lengths to make a better return on his investment.

ION-Rewards has confirmed the CEO created the account, they are very particular about the spread of misinformation.
