As I said before, getting a feel for management is another tool in the due diligence process.I have talked to enough CEO'S to be able to render some judgments on them after a couple of calls.
Nobody should rely on this as the only piece of due diligence; that is ridiculous.
However, to counsel investors to not call is in effect to advise an investor to relinquish a part of his own due diligence process.
I disagree with you on this one. It may take a series of calls, in which a basic relationship is established,and this can be vitally important. Some executive's hypocrisy and dishonesty can be covered over quite well for a season. But the real motivation--the heart and commitment of the CEO is not an impossible to bring out in the open--the true person. - Dave
