Weirdly, I got this email from someone who I haven't spoken with in a few years:

Hello,

Hope you get this on time, We made a trip to Manila,Philippines and had our bags stolen from us with our phones and credit cards in it. The embassy is willing to help by letting us fly back home since we still have our passports, We just have to pay for our ticket and settle Hotel bills. Unfortunately for us, I don't have access to funds without my credit card, I've made contact with my bank but they need more time to come up with a new one. I was thinking of asking you to lend me ($2,850USD) that I can give back as soon as We get home. We really need to be on the next available flight. I'm so confused at the moment I need urgent help.

Money Gram is the best option to send money to us. Let me know if you need my details(Full names and Present location) you can also reach me via email.I will forever be grateful if you can help me

All hopes on you.

Best Regards
"Her First Name"

I wasn't planning on sending her any cash because it was just so odd. I was thinking she was a strange bird that she would be asking this of me. Showed it to my husband and he said he got the same one from the Pres of a company he works with who he met with the same day. haha

People are so sophisticated these days or I'm still just not jaded enough. :)

I read this board because of the entertainment value, but where do all these people get all these problems from?
I'm just a lowly freebee account here, and I never have any of these problems......amazing!

Have you tested making new e-mail addresses which have no connection to anything else, signing up for an ihub account with that new e-mail address, and seeing if you start receiving that spam at any point in the future?

I'm getting about 10 messages a day now, so is a friend of mine. The only site both of our e-mail addresses are connected to, that we can both think of, is ihub. And neither of us received any of this spam until after we both signed up, and he signed up very recently and only started receiving it after he signed up.
