There are several ways a fingerprint-by-wire system might work when you purchase something online. The simplest is bluetooth connection to the device through which you are making the purchase. An installed app would wait until you have activated your card before permitting the purchase to go through much like the "captcha" box you often see while making purchases now.

I've been asking this same question, without answer, for a while now pottsville. I guess it comes down to what type of credit card fraud there are. I think that EVM technology will cut down on fraud such as happened at Target, because no numbers will be saved at the POS terminal-I don't see how biometrics will help that. Online sales with a stolen card isn't being alterred at all moving forward-I don't see how biometrics will help that. The only place it will help is in direct credit card theft, or, and this might be the biggest one, prevention of theft of numbers by RFID sniffers. Since the card won't be on until it has your fingerprint, the RFID sniffer can't get anything from it. However, as far as I know, the newer cards will only provide a PGP-like code, not any actual info about the consumer or card data. So again, biometrics might not help much.

I got into this stock without enough DD and I really regret it. I'm writing off my long position as a total loss in my head but hanging on to it as a lottery ticket.
