I think I remember the comparison being that this was not an oboe, but a bassoon. My daughter plays an oboe, and I clued in immediately the relationship. Both instruments are considered in the same family due to the type of reeds, etc. The bassoon is much bigger.

Iceking - I am not getting drawn into board riddles other than to state the obvious with respect to a basoon.

It is long and thin.

If there is a straddle into our block, the long and thin element of a basoon's shape would add support to this.
