We’ve been hearing for nearly a year that Medient Studios had been planning to shoot a horror film in Savannah. There have been a great many changes with Medient since that announcement was first made. But now talk about the film is surfacing again, and this time the studio and the producer tapped to make the film say they’re ready to move forward with it. Film Producer Chad Darnell says he’s ready to make the movie. He’s been doing site surveys, including one of the spot he very much wants to make a backdrop of the film, Bonaventure Cemetery. The cemetery hasn’t given permission for shooting as of yet, and at the moment seems reluctant to do so. Still, Chad and the studio for that location. If not they’re likely to find another.
But more important than that particular spot is the fact that another film slated for theaters will soon be shooting in the Hostess City. The most recent big-screen production to be done in the city was the Spongebob film. It will be showing across the country soon. Darnell says production of these films in Savannah and Georgia are a good thing. He believes that within the next four years, such movies being produced in Savannah will be a regular occurrence and will mean a boost to the city and the states’ economy.
