It is not. The Trolley Conundrum is a very basic intro to Decision Tree Analysis used in military tactics classes world wide. I find it of interest that the piece elided any of the wider parameters of the Fat Man Problem Dr. Sandel usually introduces to illustrate certain societal vagaries of various cultures. The most obvious of which is the implied common good sacrificial aspect of weeding out resource super users/takers.

Also not mentioned is the utilization of the Trolley Conundrum to teach students how to evaluate and/or induce/guide societal change thru gradation of language.
