Though proportionality is generally good, and it's an inherent part of all civilized legal systems (if you step on my toe I can't shoot you) there are some extreme situations where it simply makes no sense.

More Germans died in WWII than Americans, so Germany was right and America wrong?

Perhaps we should all just get back to ripping global warming deniers, it's so much fun and they're such easy targets. :-)
